Ask your future contract manufacturing partner these questions.
Are you dreaming up a personal care product or ready to expand your cottage-industry skin care business?
When looking for a contract manufacturing partner, make sure to vet them well before proceeding. Here are three things you should ask before signing on:
Are you ISO 22716 certified?
This is the Good Manufacturing Practice standard for cosmetics. GMP refers to a whole set of conditions and practices that take place throughout your product’s entire manufacturing journey. If a manufacturer meets GMP standards, it means they have a clean, controlled production environment, verification and traceability of every ingredient going into your skin care product, documentation of all procedures (a paper trail), quality control at multiple stages, and so much more.
What are your minimums?
Many manufacturers require massive order quantities that don't work for growing brands. While we do use minimums to make sure each partnership is a win-win, we can often work with lower initial minimum order quantities to ensure that start-up skincare brands aren’t left out or made to take a larger risk than they’re comfortable with.
Do you offer custom formulation?
There's a big difference between a manufacturer who fills your formula and one who can help you develop it. Know which you need because knowing what will work best for your company can save you time, money, and a lot of back-and-forth emails. If you don’t know which one you need, work with a contract manufacturing partner who can do both (like us).
